"The choice of the word “dance” for the title of this solo is imposed insofar as the set of themes of this work is its own medium, dance. “Dance” is in a certain manner the equivalent of one “without title”, which opens the possibility for this work of being one day interpretated in others “dances”.
By concentrating me on the body origins of the expression and of the movement, I question in dance the concepts of “choreography” and “style”, as well as the production equipments of forms, on the basis of the idea that it process which produces a form determines the direction and the contents of it. The practice (or work) of body is the principal tool there to generate the dance. Deployment and the association of qualities of movements and states of very contrasted bodies, produced by changes interns of attention, constitute the structure allowing choreography to appear.
The concept of style as for it is put flat. By the same type of processes, i.e. while seeking in the matter of the body what can justify the emergence of a movement, various choreographic styles appear, are juxtaposed and interpenetrate without value judgment. These styles, by the way even in which they are generated, are not reproduced but built-in, which enables me to propose a particular glance on the practice like on the history of the dance. Indeed, these styles seem forms not reproduced, pertaining to a choreographer, a choreographic current and one particular moment of the history, but like possible states of body. They are nothing any more but possibilities of expression and communication, of the change of tonicity, x-ray, state or dynamics.
Their fitting and the way in which they are produced play thus with the memory of the spectator."
